Here is a poem…I’m new to poetry, so forgive the primitive structure. I’d love any suggestions for improvement.
This has been written after a period of violence against our students. Seeing this turmoil in a young student’s life always forces me to think about the sadness that is nice to forget.
She wears a fashion scarf over her face
BCBG glasses hide her soul
A mask of truth
The children see through it
A little lamb that roars inside
Occasionally lashing out with teeth and tears
She wears the face of a tormented angel
Hidden within is the truth
She belittles others
She craves attention
The home of the lonely
Bruised by desire
I see through it
This hidden truth
The desire for serenity in chaos
I open one door with a call for help
